Regional Sales Manager, Alabama Chapter

Birmingham, AL

Requirements:

  • College degree in business administration or equivalent experience.
  • Five to ten years previous experience in management level position with experience in sales/business development, marketing, budgeting/forecasting and customer service.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, problem solving and negotiation skills are essential to success in this position. Sound PC skills and the ability to travel frequently throughout the assigned territory are required.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to plan and implement effective sales plans.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements annual sales plan to achieve sales objectives focusing on training, consulting and membership through proactive management of key account relationships.
  • Open new accounts, managing the account relationship, business opportunities, and product expectations. Achieves annually established sales goals among existing clients and new clients. Achieves established goal of developing new prospects and converting them to clients.
  • Meets with customers to understanding their goals and needs. Recommending appropriate solutions while promoting the business case for selecting products and services.
  • Maintains knowledge of all product and service offerings, specifically related to features and benefits, to effectively represent capabilities to prospective clients and develop necessary proposals, interacting with technical and marketing staff on an on-going basis.
  • Manages customer satisfaction with delivery of services through creation of sales presentations/proposals that meet the needs and expectations of the client, securing feedback from client throughout and upon completion of delivery to ensure service met expectation.
  • Monitors activities of key competitors, communicates new market trends, recommending new safety technology offerings.
  • Participates in sales and marketing activities at local and national professional conferences. Meet with and/or make presentations to local agencies, community groups, educational organizations and legislative bodies.
  • Manages local customer service support. Also, manages the administration of Defensive Driving courses, First Aid Institute courses, Occupational courses and the administration of Occupational consulting services working closely with OSH and other NSC staff develop.
  • Serve as liaison and resource person between NSC and state/local government as well as key national organizations within region.
  • Monitors state and local government regulatory activities reviewing legislation impacting NSC and leading actions to maximize NSC’s role in support of regulatory/legislative requirements.
  • Manages office staff and facility.

Instructional Design Manager

Itasca, IL

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional design, adult education or related field.
  • 5+ years instructional design experience; with 2+ years successful project management. experience; supervisory experience a plus.
  • Handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast paced environment.
  • Strong desktop computer application skills (Excel, Word, Access) Microsoft Project a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and coaching skills, including the ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships.
  • Experience in multiple venues for learning including, classroom, instructor led, e-learning, online and blended learning.
  • Strong project management and organization skills.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to manage details of a complex process.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead numerous cross functional teams to deliver quality new products to market to drive revenue and profit opportunities.
  • Develop, design and implement a new product development process that is collaborative and integrated.
  • Benchmark/map the current product development process to ensure that new process will decrease the time to market of a financially successful product.
  • Oversee work of Instructional Design team in managing the conception, creative, and editing of training products based on instructional soundness, learner engagement, pace of presentation, and consistency of tone and style.
  • Develop, manage, and maintain standards and consistency of content, style, and visuals and ensure integration across business units.
  • Develop and maintain detailed, time-sensitive, up-to-date product development production schedules and communicate the progress with all applicable parties. 
  • Develops, manage and track budgets both from a product development as well as departmental expense side. Records and reports final costs per project, including any explanations for any variances.
  • Ensure that NSC retains ownership of the content; applying, and tracking of official copy writes.
  • Keep abreast of training and learning technologies; incorporating new technology into new product development initiatives as appropriate.

Managing Editor – Publications

Itasca, IL

Requirements:

  • Journalism degree or equivalent experience.
  • Five years previous editorial experience required, preferably magazine editorial experience.
  • Ability to handle multiple deadlines and multiple publications simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to research, organize, write and edit technical material.
  • Experience using general office equipment, computers, word processing and spreadsheet applications (Microsoft7 Word7 or WordPerfect7, and Excel7) required.
  • Quark knowledge and experience required.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages and coordinates editorial content for all publications, ensuring that deadlines are met.
  • Copyedits fact checks and proofs all editorial content. Reviews material for compatibility with council style and edits for grammar, style, clarity, and coherence.
  • Writes clear, concise, concrete headlines and captions.
  • Participates in monthly art, editorial and production meetings.
  • Assists with imposition.
  • Understands and operates within Copyright law.

State & Local Government Program Development Director

Itasca, IL

Requirements:

  • College degree in Business, Safety, Political Science or equivalent experience.
  • 10 years of field experience in government-related services.
  • 5 years experience interacting with government officials.
  • Proven presentation skills especially before legislative committees.
  • Excellent written, verbal and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and ability to motivate groups of people.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license. DDC instructor status is helpful.
  • Up to 50% travel.

Responsibilities:

  • Represent NSC before state legislative bodies for driver improvement programs. 
  • Direct, monitor and handle state legislative activities concerning driver improvement usage.
  • Work with state motor vehicle authorities to develop state-wide driver improvement programs.
  • Recruit new DDC training centers, expand program participation of current training centers, assist training centers to expand sub-agency network.
  • Recruit major national corporate accounts as training centers and expand program participation of public and private training centers.
  • Represent DDC Department and National Safety Council in the field to agencies, government agencies and officials, judges, local councils, etc.
  • Assist in developing and implementing national and international marketing and public relations strategies to promote training programs initiates.
  • Represent NSC in negotiation of contracts or other agreements with government agencies.
  • Determine and develop other opportunities for NSC involvement to expand products and services.
  • Participate in public TV and radio interviews as opportunities arise. Work with the Council’s public relations department to promote the positive results of state programs.

Executive Director for International Affairs

Requirements:

  • At least 10 years of international business experience.

Analyst, Systems Architecture

Itasca, IL

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication/presentation skills.
  • 5+ years Solid experience in object-oriented analysis/design.
  • 5+ years of software development experience with 2 of those years designing and developing internet e-commerce or e-finance applications.
  • 5+ years experience using MS SQL Server, including DTS.
  • 3 years systems analysis experience, including requirements gathering, functional design, and technical design.
  • Good working knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Command of HTML, CSS, JavaScript coding; knowledge of User Interface/Web usability and Information Architecture principles.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all test specifications, use cases and test results are fully documented and repeatable
  • Ability to understand and translate business requirements into test specifications/logic flows which can be measure as to ascertain development quality
  • Track bug and defects, system enhancements, and change requests
  • Ensure that systems changes are properly scheduled in advance, as well as obtaining appropriate sign-off

Exhibit Sales Coordinator

Itasca, IL

Requirements:

  • 3+ years in business environment, especially sales environment.
  • Some college preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task, organize and execute detailed projects with follow-up tracking required.
  • Strong written communication skills, ability to work as a team as well as independently.
  • Knowledge of database software, Microsoft word and excel.
  • Travel once a year to Congress; 12 - 14 hour days required during Congress.
  • Occasional overtime and weekend work.

Responsibilities:

  • Mail exhibitor prospectus packets with customized sales letter.
  • Field phone calls from prospective exhibitors if sales team is unavailable or out of office.
  • Prepare lists for Exhibit Sales Reps for trips to competitive Trade Shows, including whether each company is a Current Exhibitor, Past Exhibitor, or Potential Exhibitor.
  • Process all exhibit space applications: enter in Vision, Access, and Website; verify information and correct errors based on exhibitor follow-up.
  • Produce weekly exhibit sales report, exhibitor list, and weeks out report for Conventions staff.
  • Coordinate mailing of various exhibitor packets which include confirmation letters, regulations, housing, exhibitor manuals and other promotional materials.
  • Track all additions, cancellations and reductions in space.
  • Enter contracts in Vision and update spreadsheet.
  • Send Invoices and Confirmation Letters (working with Marketing to get deadlines and specs)
  • Answer general exhibitor questions via phone and email.
  • General monthly sales report and commission report.
  • Audit floor plan, website, Vision, and Access.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Exhibitor Sales Reps.

Information Architect/SEO Specialist

Requirements:

  • Two plus years of applied Information Architect experience. Bachelor’s in Information Systems, Graphic Design or equivalent work experience.
  • In depth understanding of search engines and working knowledge of the techniques used to achieve high rankings with the existing web site and build into the new web site.
  • Knowledge and understanding of database concepts and Internet technologies and architecture software programs.

Requirements:

Two plus years experience writing with a solid Direct Marketing background and able to work in print, and collateral. Web experience a plus. Writing background with good presentation and communication skills. 4 plus year college degree or equivalent work experience. Prior proofreading experience a plus. Excellent spelling and grammar skills. Ability to relate to people at all different levels within the organization. Conceptual thinker with the ability to work through problems and create solutions.

Responsibilities:

Develop project direction based on goals and target audience provided by clients. Work with senior writer, product creators, creative group and marketing teams to ensure the delivery of strong, concise, NSC brand-focused marketing materials. Create project copy content in most or all of the following communication disciplines: direct mail, collateral, and print. Proofread all copy for errors and consistency with department standards. Route projects and follows through on delivery expectations with clients and the marketing area.
